Mike Bush Ceramics

Although I started pottery back in the seventies, it has grown to be an important lifestyle activity for me over the last five years.

My work is either wheel - thrown (sometimes modified afterwards) or slab built/sculptural pieces and I tend to concentrate on clean structural forms with glazes that I design and develop myself. My early background as a research chemist probably helps in this but all sorts of things can happen in the kiln and some say the results depend on the phase of the moon! All my work is in vitrified stoneware clay fired in an oxidizing atmosphere.

I am a member of Alton and Farnham Art Societies and a number of specialist ceramic groups and I have lived in Chawton, Hampshire for the last twenty years or so
